From initial mold engineering through trials and final validation, PPI develops and manages injection molding tooling tailored to your quality, cost and production requirements.
Working with a qualified network of tooling partners in France, Europe and Asia, we identify the right manufacturing solution for each project while maintaining full technical and project oversight from start to finish.

Our Expertise
Mold Quality Drives Part Quality
In injection molding, the quality and consistency of the finished part depend directly on the quality of the mold.
Dimensional accuracy, surface appearance, repeatability, cycle time, production output and mold life are all influenced by decisions made during the tooling design phase.
PPI supports customers throughout mold engineering, manufacturing, trials and ongoing tooling support to ensure a reliable and efficient transition into production.
Our integrated machine workshop also enables us to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs and tooling modifications in-house, improving responsiveness and minimizing production downtime.
Our objective is straightforward: engineer the right mold for your product, production volumes and quality requirements.
Challenges
Why Is the Mold Critical to a Successful Injection Molding Program?
An injection mold is much more than a manufacturing tool.
It is at the heart of the production process and directly impacts:
- part quality
- dimensional tolerances
- surface appearance
- cycle time
- production output
- tooling life
- overall manufacturing cost
Poor mold design can result in molding defects, repeated rework, lost productivity and significant additional costs throughout the product lifecycle.
This is why PPI considers injection, ejection, secondary finishing and end-use requirements from the earliest stages of mold development.
Why Do Injection Molds Vary So Much in Cost?
Injection mold cost depends on multiple factors, including part complexity, material selection, number of cavities, appearance requirements, expected production volumes and the required level of automation.
Each mold is engineered specifically for its application, with the objective of achieving the right balance between upfront tooling investment, part quality and long-term manufacturing performance.
Tooling Strategy
From Mold Design to Final Validation
A Natural Extension of the Co-engineering Process
Once the product design has been validated, our teams move into detailed mold engineering.
Using the approved 3D model, we define the technical parameters required to manufacture the mold:
This stage turns a manufacturable part design into a production tool capable of delivering consistent, controlled and repeatable output.
In-house Capabilities Supported by a Qualified Global Partner Network
To address a broad range of tooling requirements, PPI operates with a flexible manufacturing model.
Selected technical molds are manufactured directly in our own machine shop. Depending on project requirements, we also work with qualified tooling partners in Europe and Asia.
Regardless of where the mold is manufactured, PPI retains full ownership of project management and technical oversight. Our teams manage:
- project coordination
- engineering reviews
- manufacturing milestone approvals
- quality follow-up
- final tooling acceptance
This approach allows us to select the most appropriate solution based on each project’s technical requirements, budget and timeline.
Mold Trials, Tuning & Validation
100%
OF MOLDS TRIALED AND VALIDATED
BEFORE PRODUCTION
Completing the physical mold is not the end of the tooling process.
Before release to production, every mold undergoes a complete trial and validation phase.
Our teams perform:
- injection molding trials
- initial production runs
- dimensional inspection
- drawing compliance checks
- deviation analysis
- any required tooling adjustments
Mold tuning and validation are fully integrated into our tooling service.
This process ensures that initial molded parts meet the requirements established during the design and engineering phases before the mold is released for serial production.
40-50
NEW MOLDS MANAGED EACH YEAR
Track Record
Proven Expertise in Injection Mold Manufacturing
PPI manages 40 to 50 new tooling projects every year across a wide range of applications, including technical components, housings, mechanical assemblies, overmolded components and 2K molding applications. Every mold is engineered around the customer’s functional, appearance and manufacturing requirements.
Our tooling expertise enables us to tailor each solution to the specific constraints of the application and its targeted production objectives.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ — Mold Engineering & Manufacturing
Why is mold design so important in plastic injection molding?
The mold directly determines the quality, dimensional accuracy and repeatability of the molded parts. A well-engineered mold provides the foundation for a reliable and controlled manufacturing process.
What is the difference between mold engineering and mold manufacturing?
Mold engineering defines how the tooling will be designed to manufacture the required part, including its architecture and key technical features. Mold manufacturing is the physical production of that tooling according to the approved engineering definition.
Do you manufacture injection molds in-house?
Yes. We manufacture selected technical molds in our own machine shop and also work with a network of qualified tooling specialists to address the requirements of a broader range of projects. In all cases, PPI retains responsibility for project management, technical follow-up and final validation.
Can an existing injection mold be modified?
Yes, although the extent of possible modifications depends on the original mold design, its current condition and the required changes. Depending on these factors, our tooling team can perform modifications, repairs or upgrades to extend mold life or adapt the tooling to new production requirements.
Can PPI manage an existing mold transfer?
Yes. We regularly support industrial customers transferring existing molds to secure production or improve manufacturing performance. Our integrated tooling capabilities enable us to assess the mold, carry out necessary modifications and support its return to production within our manufacturing environment.
